N 12° 14.230 W 068° 22.137

Short Description:

Goto Lake (Gotomeer) is a brackish lagoon situated about 8 miles north of the capital city Kralendijk via the Queen's Highway and then Kaminda Goto in Bonaire.

Long Description:

Goto Lake (Gotomeer) is a shallow brackish lagoon near the north end of Bonaire. It is one of the few places in the world where pink flamingos nest. The shallow brackish water provides the brine shrimp and blue-green algae on which the long-legged, wading, colonies of flamingos feed and a suitable environment for them to nest. Flamingos are in greatest abundance from January to June when they are raising their young.
