Short Description:
A monument commemorating the return of Marquis de Lafayette to Boston is located on the Boston Common near the Park Street T station on Tremont Street.
Long Description:
A 2.5' by 4.5' bronze plaque is embedded in a 6' by 4.25 by 1.25' granite base honors Revolutionary War hero Marquis de Lafayette. The plaque contains the image of Lafayette sculpted by John Francis Paramino and cast at the Gorham Manufacturing Company. The monument was installed on the Boston Common on August 24, 1924 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the return the Marquis de Lafayette to Boston in 1824.
