The Cormier House was built architect Ernest Cormier as his private residence in 1930-31. A variety of styles were used on the exterior. The furnishings of the interior are purely Art Deco. Cormier created most of the furniture, with remaining pieces acquired in Paris at the birthplace of Art Deco - the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes.
Following his retirement from politics in 1984, Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau purchased the property and lived their until his death in 2000. The Cormier House has been recognized by Quebec as an historic heritage property.
