Short Description:
The War Memorial is located in the Irishtown section at the end of Bay Road in the west end of Basseterre, St. Kitts.
Long Description:
The original War Memorial was dedicated in 1926 to honor the men from Kitts, Nevis and Anguilla who died in World War I. In 1955, it was moved and replaced by the present obelisk and surroundings an a plaque honoring the men who died during World War II was added.
The bronze plaque on the front of the obelisk is inscribed:
ST. CHRISTOPHER-NEVIS
TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN
MEMORY OF THE MEN FROM THIS
PRESIDENCY WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES
IN THE GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1918
