The Diamond Waterfall is an unusually colorful waterfall. The 17 meters high (56 feet) plunge fall has a volcanic source. It is fed by both rainwater and the nearby Sulfur Springs of the Soufriere Volcano. Since the water contains minerals, sulphur, copper sulphate, magnesium, iron, manganese and calcium, the rocks face behind the falls become covered with these minerals accounting for their vibrantly colored appearance. The colors change as the mineral content of the water varies.

Diamond Waterfall is located inside the Botanical Garden and is easily reached by well maintained At the Botanical Garden a well maintained path.

The stamp is part of a series of 15 pictorial stamps issued between 1970 and 1973 depicting sights of St. Lucia.
