Short Description:
The Winchendon American Legion Monument is located in American Legion Park on Front Street between Pleasant Street and Lincoln Avenue in Winchendon, MA.
Long Description:
A 20' by 8' by 6' tiered granite shaft topped with a carved United States shield resting on olive branches supports a bronze eagle with spread wings perched on a bronze sphere. The monument honors citizens of Winchendon who died in World War I. The monument was erected on November 6, 1921 by the Winchendon American Legion Post with more than $9,000 contributed by local citizens.
A bronze plaque on the front of the base is inscribed:
IN HONOR OF AND IN GRATITUDE TO THE VALIANT MEN WHO MADE THE
