Quick Description:
Double One on C is a
abstract sculpture located in the south east side of the Empire State Plaza,
near the Corning Tower, in Albany, NY
Long Description:
Double One on C is a
10.75' high by 6.75' wide abstract sculpture fabricated by from copper sheets.
It is located on the south east side of the Corning Tower in the Empire State
Plaza. This sculpture by Herbert Ferber was created in 1965 -1966. It was
acquired by then Governor in Nelson A. Rockefeller as part of an extensive
modern art collection on display at the New State Capitol complex.
As the name suggests the bottom of the sculpture has a form of a C except that the bottom rises then is twisted to the left to touch the ground. At the 10' o'clock position of the C a large curved set of copper plates is attached to form a stylized number one. A second smaller curved set of copper plates is attached to upper part of the larger number one to form the second number one. The sculpture rests on a rectangular concrete base.
